What can be said about pigs in a blanket? They’re little sausages wrapped in flaky, buttery crescent roll dough and baked til golden brown. With ingredients so simply yummy, the only thing that could make this snack better is to cook them to perfection. Here are just a few little tips that can bring your pigs in a blanket from “just yummy” to “oh-my-god-these-are-so-addictive!”

I love making these as an appetizer for any sporting event or holiday! They always the first to go and everyone loves them – especially the kids!

Just 2 Ingredients Needed

  • Crescent dough: You’ll need 2 cans of 8 Crescent Rolls (store-bought, canned).
  • Little Smokies: These are little mini sausages – you can use any brand or flavor (beef, turkey, or pork), or even mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages.

Variations

  • Brush each crescent roll with egg wash and sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning.
  • Brush with egg wash and coat with Italian seasoning.
  • Bush with egg wash and coat with poppy seeds or sesame seeds.
  • Brush with melted butter or garlic butter when they come out of the oven.
  • Add small slices of American cheese or cheddar cheese into the rolled up dough with the sausage.

How to Make Pigs in a Blanket

  1. Unroll the crescent roll sheets and separate the triangles. Slice each triangle into 3 pieces.
  2. Roll up one little sausage in each triangle.
  3. Place pigs in a blanket on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake until golden brown.

  • We serve them with ketchup or mustard but you could also use ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, honey mustard, dijon mustard, or any dipping sauce you like.
  • They’re done baking when they’re nice and golden brown on top.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 8-ounce tubes of crescent rolls
  • 1 14-ounce package little smokies
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  • On a cutting board covered with parchment paper, unroll crescent roll sheets. They are perforated into triangles. Carefully pull the triangles apart and cut each one into three smaller triangles. Then pre-heat oven to 375°F.
  • At the thick end of the dough place one little smokie and roll them gently until you reach the pointed end of the triangle and pinch the dough in place
  • Use a large cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Place the rolled up little smokies on the cookie sheet in a single layer. Lightly spray with cooking spray. Cook 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Check them after 7 minutes and rotate the pan 180°.
  • Serve hot.
