How to make this Shrimp and Sausage Skillet

  1. It’s important to cook the bell pepper first so it softens.
  2. Use chicken sausage or any kind of sausage that you like.
  3. I use EZ peel shrimp – you can use any size. Shrimp take about 3-4 minutes to cook and are pink and look like a “C” when cooked through.
  4. I always add a ton of garlic because it tastes so good.
  5. Serve with cauliflower rice, regular rice, or even pasta or just a side salad or vegetable.

Shrimp and sliced sausage cooked with diced tomatoes and spices, creating a colorful, savory dish with a rich sauce.

mel’s expert tips

  • Use fresh shrimp or frozen shrimp for this recipe. If using frozen, be sure to buy ones that are deveined with the tails removed, and thaw them before you cook them – the package should have instructions for doing that.
  • Choose your favorite bell pepper color (I love red bell pepper), or you can use half of one color and half of another.
  • For the Cajun seasoning, choose a brand that you like, keeping in mind that some brands are spicier than others.
  • This is a delicious dish with chicken sausage and cauliflower rice. However, for a different flavor, feel free to use andouille sausage or kielbasa, and serve with white rice or pasta.
