These Cola Burgers are delicious because they have a Coca Cola Barbecue Sauce! They’re the perfect easy burger for grilling – with so much flavor. Serve these burgers however you like – but don’t skip the sauce!

A juicy grilled burger patty rests on an open bun with lettuce, tomato, and sliced red onion. In the background, theres a bottle of Coca-Cola with a visible label. The setup is on a wooden surface, suggesting a casual meal setting.

It’s no secret that burger patties taste better with a sweet element added, that’s why people add sugar and ketchup to their patties. Cola will give you a sweet glaze on your patties that you never knew you needed, and a very moist, succulent texture similar to that of meatloaf. Once you taste a coca cola burger it may be the only burger you ever want again (unless you’re making Greek Turkey Burgers, that is).

How to make Coca Cola BBQ Sauce

Homemade BBQ sauce is really easy to make with simple ingredients!

  • The base of most homemade barbecue sauce is Ketchup.
  • Then you’ll add Worcestershire sauce for flavor (you can also add liquid smoke).
  • The extra sweetness comes from Cola (or even root beer), along with brown sugar.
  • You’ll want to add kosher salt and pepper, as well as onion powder and garlic powder.
  • Once you have all the ingredients boiled together in a medium saucepan, let them cool and then it’s time to make your burgers!

Expert Tips

Make sure to keep a close eye on your patties while they are cooking, because of the added sugar from the cola they are at a higher risk of burning, sugar tends to cook quick.

If you are cooking these inside and not on a grill but still want to achieve that charbroiled flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke. It will give that smokey flavor that you get from grilling!

  • 1 cup cola
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
