An Agua Fresca is a refreshing non-alcoholic drink made with water and blended fruit and sugar. It’s perfect for in-season fruit, like in summer when strawberries are fresh. This strawberry version is made with berries and sugar and water – it’s perfect for a party or just to have in the fridge for hot summer days.

How to make Agua de Fresa

  1. It’s best to use fresh strawberries (or any in-season fruit, like watermelon or pineapple). In a pinch, thawed frozen fruit can be used.
  2. Add the berries with white sugar to a blender and blend until smooth. If you blend it long enough you shouldn’t need to strain it. You can also use a food processor if you want.
  3. It’s important to chill the fruit mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  4. When ready to serve, add fruit puree to a pitcher and pour in fresh water. Stir and garnish with fresh mint sprigs or slices of lime.
  5. I often add a bit of fresh lime juice for freshness as well.
  6. Feel free to add sweetener if your fruit isn’t as sweet as you’d like it.

We also use strawberry puree in this delicious strawberry lemonade – the perfect easy drink recipe with tons of flavor all season long!
