Pizza Pinwheels Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry: I use frozen puff pastry and then thaw it right before using. You could also make these with crescent roll dough.
  • Mustard: I use dijon mustard. I know it sounds weird, but it’s good, I promise. I don’t even like mustard but I love these!
  • Pepperoni: Regular or turkey pepperoni work.
  • Cheese: I use parmesan, but you can use a different cheese, like mozzarella cheese, if you want.
  • Spices: I added Italian seasoning and garlic salt!

How to Make Pinwheels

  • Place unwrapped puff pastry on a cutting board and cut in half. Spread a thin layer of mustard on both halves of the pastry.
  • Layer 3 rows of pepperoni then sprinkle with parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning and garlic salt.
  • Roll tightly from the long side. Wet the edge with your finger with water and pinch slightly to seal. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Chill for at least one hour. It’s fine if you leave it chilled overnight.
  • Take chilled pizza rolls and unwrap them. Slice into ½ slices and lay them flat on the baking sheets covered with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Expert Tips

  • It’s important to use thawed puff pastry because if you try to make it while it’s still frozen it will crack and break. So, follow the thawing instructions on the package before you make the pinwheels.
  • You can assemble the pizza pinwheels a day in advance. Just make sure the roll is tightly wrapped and then the next day you can slice and bake them.
  • If you slice the pinwheels thicker or thinner the baking time will vary. So, if you prefer them thicker than a ½” you will need to increase the baking time.
  • They are best served hot from the oven. If you have leftovers, they will keep in the fridge but the puff pastry with soften and won’t be as flaky when you reheat them. Air fry them to crisp them up!
  • Freeze leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer. Air fry to crisp.

Cook Time 10 minutes
Yield 6 servings
Serving Size 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 puffed pastry thawed
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ of a 6 ounce package of Pepperoni. Approximately 36 slices
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt

Instructions

  • Place unwrapped puff pastry on a cutting board and cut in half
  • Spread a thin layer of mustard on both halves of the pastry. Don’t worry if you have to use a little more than 1 tablespoon. Layer 3 rows of pepperoni. You can overlap the pepperoni and you should leave a little space on each side so you can seal the dough together when you roll it. Sprinkle half of the parmesan cheese, ½ Italian seasoning and ½ garlic salt on each puff pastry halve. Roll tightly from the long side. Wet the edge with your finger with water and pinch slightly to seal. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Chill for at least one hour. It’s fine if you leave it chilled overnight.
  • Pre-heat over to 425°. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Take chilled. Rolls and unwrap them. Slice into ½ slices and lay them flat on the baking sheets.
  • Bake 6-8 minutes or until puffy and golden brown. The thickness of your cuts will make cooking time vary. Serve hot.
