Easy Baked Potato Dip

Dips are one of my favorite things to make for football season, as well as family gatherings and holiday get-togethers. There’s just something so comforting about the ease of making a homemade dip that it’s pretty much one of my go-to recipes year-round.

Since I’m a huge baked potato fan, this dip just makes sense. It was fast and easy to put together, and it really does taste like a baked potato!

Ingredients to make this Baked Potato Dip

  • Sour Cream: I usually use light sour cream.
  • Cheese: Cheddar cheese goes great in this recipe, but you can use any kind you like.
  • Bacon: Make sure to cut the bacon small. If you want, use bacon bits. You can use any kind of bacon you like.
  • Hot Sauce: Use your favorite kind! We love Tapatio.
  • Bread: We like to slice a French baguette but crackers would be fantastic too.
  • Chives: For garnish.

Expert tips

  • If you don’t have sour cream, unflavored Greek yogurt will do the trick! It literally tastes the exact same and might actually be a bit better for you.
  • Vary up the added cheese – I love using cheddar cheese, but change it up. You can do Colby cheese, pepper jack cheese, or any other type that you like.
  • If you prefer turkey bacon, it goes just as good in this recipe!
  • If you’re not a fan of hot sauce, you can leave it out.
  • Other good dipping items are crackers, potato chips, or other kinds of bread.

FAQs

Can I freeze this dip?

Since there is sour cream in the dip, it’s best served fresh. Attempting to freeze sour cream and then thaw it is possible, but it may “break” or separate and cause a weird texture or taste. It’s not recommended to freeze this dip.
