Turkey lettuce wraps are light, full of flavor, and perfect for busy weeknight dinners. They are filled with ground turkey cooked in an Asian-style sauce that’s a little sweet and salty and totally delicious!

We used to go out when we had a craving for Asian-style lettuce wraps, but now we make them at home because they’re just as good and so much less expensive. I love recreating favorite restaurant dishes like this because, while it’s fun to go out, sometimes you just want to stay in after a long day. Enter these Asian turkey lettuce wraps: they are quick, easy, and full of flavor.
Turkey lettuce wraps are an easy 30-minute meal and even better than takeout. There are so many great things going on in these wraps – crunch from water chestnuts, a savory smooth sauce, tender meat, and fresh flavors from the veggies. They are the perfect light healthy meal, or you can serve them as an appetizer!

How to Make Turkey Lettuce Wraps
- Mix the sauce in a small bowl, combining soy sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar. This will give your turkey mixture a sweet and salty flavor! Set aside.
- Cook the ground turkey with celery in a large skillet over medium-high heat, until it’s no longer pink. Feel free to use ground chicken or ground pork if you prefer.
- Add the fresh garlic and ginger to the pan and stir to combine, then add the sauce with the water chestnuts and carrots. Give it a few stirs and the filling is ready.
- Spoon the turkey filling into a butter lettuce leaf and enjoy!

mel’s expert tips
- One of our favorite ways to use this recipe is to make the filling ahead for meal prep! Cook the turkey filling and store in the fridge (keep the lettuce separate). Heat the filling in the microwave and assemble in your lettuce wrap.
- We love lean ground turkey for this recipe, but you can use ground beef, chicken or pork if you prefer.
- We like using a butter lettuce leaf for the wrap, but you can also use a large romaine lettuce leaf.
- This recipe is easy to modify – try adding some mushrooms or green onions to the mix, or some sriracha if you like spice!
