We’ve hosted many parties over the years and love to try new appetizers and snacks, but sometimes it’s the classics that are the biggest hit of the party. These crockpot little smokies are one of those appetizers. They are always the first to go (alongside pigs in blankets).

It doesn’t get any easier than these crockpot smokies. All you need are five ingredients, a slow cooker, and a few minutes to prep them. Then you leave them to simmer for several hours. When you have an easy appetizer for game day that is always a crowd-pleaser, that’s a recipe that’s a keeper! Once you know how to make little smokies in a crockpot, it will be your go-to party snack.

Ingredients for Crockpot Little Smokies

  • Little Smokies: These are mini sausages – use any brand, flavor or even mini hot dogs.
  • Cranberry Sauce: You can use canned or jarred whole cranberries, not the jelly kind.
  • BBQ Sauce: Choose your favorite flavor or brand.
  • Sriracha: You can also use another hot sauce of any spice level (we also love Tapatio)
  • Brown Sugar: Adds a great sweetness – I love the smokey sweet and hot sauce.

How to Cook Little Smokies

  1. Add all ingredients into the crockpot except the little smokies, stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  2. Add little smokies and stir to incorporate.
  3. Set the crock-pot to low for 4-6hrs or high 2-4hrs.

Expert Tips

  • If you don’t want to make slow cooker little smokies, you can cook them on the stove. Combine the sauce ingredients in a large pot, and then add the sausages. Turn the heat to medium and once the sauce is bubbling, lower it to medium-low.
  • If you want to make them ahead of time you can mix up the sauce and keep it in the refrigerator up to a day in advance. All you have to do the next day is put everything in the crockpot.
