Impossible Cheeseburger Pie recipe is an old-fashioned recipe that was first shared by Bisquick. It’s really simple and perfect when you’re craving some serious comfort food. Sometimes it’s referred to impossibly easy cheeseburger pie because it really is so easy to make. Basically the Bisquick creates a biscuit-like pie crust that forms itself in the oven – it’s like a cheeseburger in a pie dish!

Ingredients NEEDED

  • Ground Beef: You can use any fat content although we prefer lean ground beef or even try another ground meat like ground turkey as well.
  • Onion: Finely chopped onion
  • Cheese: I used cheddar cheese in this delicious recipe – shred it yourself for the best melting.
  • Bisquick Mix: The baking mix in the yellow box is the one I grew up using
  • Milk: You can use any kind of milk in this recipe – regular or nondairy

How to Make Impossible Cheeseburger Pie

  • In a large skillet cook the ground beef and onion. Cook beef until if is no longer pink. Drain the excess liquid.
  • In a medium bowl add Bisquick mix, salt, milk and eggs. Whisk together well.
  • Add ground beef mixture into the pie plate, add cheese on top of the beef and then pour the Bisquick mixture on top of the cheese.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve.

A homemade quiche with a golden brown, cheesy crust is presented in a round baking dish. Bits of browned sausage are visible on the surface. It sits on a white marble board, partially surrounded by sprigs of fresh green parsley.

EXPERT TIPS

  • If you want to lighten it up try switching the ground beef for ground turkey to make a turkey burger pie.
  • It’s easy to change the flavor by using different kinds of cheese. Any good melting cheese will work so try sharp cheddar, provolone, American cheese, Monterey Jack, or Havarti. Blue cheese is also a good choice.
  • Make it a bacon cheeseburger pie and add a layer of cooked bacon. Cook the slices before you cook the beef and then layer them over the beef before you add the cheese.
  • I love to serve this recipe with a side of ketchup, bell peppers, or French fries or a simple house salad.

Storing Leftovers

Store the leftover pie in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave or even the air fryer!

FAQs

Do I have to use Bisquick? Can I use any biscuit mix?

Technically yes you can use any biscuit mix, but it needs to be looser than making biscuits. You’ll need to adjust the eggs and milk added to the dry mix over what is called for on the box unless the box has ingredients for impossible pie.
