Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies 4 ingredient cookies that are super chocolatey, soft, fudgy, and they taste like cake! Make these easy cookies in a snap whenever you’re craving chocolate.

Cake mix cookies are such an EASY cookie recipe. When you use my recipe, they’re gooey and soft and no one will ever know they’re from a mix!
These cookies have just a four ingredients and it’s easy to change up the flavors with different cake mixes or mix-ins. These are gooey, rich, and super soft!

How to make Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies
- You can use ANY chocolate cake mix you love but I recommend Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines.
- You can fill your cookies with anything you like, but I used chocolate chips. The gooey cookie with the melty chocolate chips are the perfect cure for your chocolate craving. But if you love M&Ms or peanut butter cups, you can use whatever mix-ins you like.
- Chocolate cake mix cookies become vanilla or spice or red velvet with just the switch of a cake mix.
- I love using oil but you could also use an equal amount of melted unsalted butter.
- It’s easiest to mix these with a hand mixer.

Making right now and it was super easy!! I’m thinking the calorie count is off though as each of my 24 cookies had 165 calories each.
These r so good there the best cookies i ever made.. Im thinking about adding bacon
Sure would help if you included high altitude adjustments …???? i jotted down the general “go-to” ingredient additions and amounts of each that’s a success for most box mixes
..
+ 2T flour
+ 1/4C additional water
+ 1/4C additional oil (OR butter)
I too, live above 5k ft. (high altitude). I simply added 2 _teaspoons_ of flour and these turned out amazing! Almost too simple! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
I love making cake mixm cookies, but every time I use a chocolate cake mix, the cookies fall. Doesn’t happen with other flavors of cake mix. What am I doing wrong?
I added 1 extra egg (3 total) for white cake mix AND THE COOKIES TURNED OUT SOOOOOOO SOFT…..THE BEST EVER…

I made these for my family and they were absolutely delicious! Super easy, had some left over Pillsbury chocolate cake mix and whipped these up super quickly. I left mine in the oven for about 11 1/2 – 12 minutes and they were perfect! Added some chocolate frosting and they were gone so fast. Highly recommend for those who don’t want to make a whole cake or just want to try something new!
I add bananas and chocolate chips 😋 kids loved them.
Found you via Pinterest. I used a Betty Crocker triple chocolate fudge cake mix and melted butter rather than the oil. For my one cup of chips I used a mix of white chocolate and milk chocolate chips. The cookie is amazing. Never a huge fan of the cake mix cookie other than the lemon, but this has changed my mind! So easy and delish. Yum. ( I always add in a splash or two of vanilla to all my cookie batters.) Thank you!
Easy enough to make. I do not recommend substituting m&m’s for chocolate chips – the melted chocolate makes a big difference
So easy to make. They look pretty and tast great! I added peanut butter chips to the mix. They were so good with a glass of ice cold milk!!
Recipe calls for 15 oz cake mix. What you purchase is only 13.25 ounces cake mix. How can you adjust?
You don’t have to adjust, it will still work, I just tested it.
Fantastic!
I love your recipes thank you for sharing
They are cooling now and look delicious!
20 minutes later…..
They were so moist and tasty. I chopped nestle crunch bars into small pieces to equal a cup and the crunchy rice cereal in the cookies was a nice contrast to calm the extra sweetness and I added about a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon….mmmmmm! So good!
I used the Dolly Parton chocolate cake mix, which is 18 oz, so i added an extra egg, because without it, it was too dry to come together. I added white chocolate chips. Oh my goodness!!!!!! They are amazing! So soft and not flat! I was worried they would be too cake like, but it’s not. They are definitely cookies. I will be making this again!
Yum! Thanks for giving the recipe a try. I’ve never tried the Dolly Parton cake mix, thanks for sharing!
They are delicious and look great!
I rolled them in powdered sugar first for a crinkle cookie!
