Love Champagne but not the alcohol? Non-Alcoholic Champagne (or SHAMpagne as I call it) is the answer! Just 2 ingredients it will satisfy your sparkling wine craving and everyone can have a glass.

Two tall glasses of champagne are garnished with fresh raspberries. Additional raspberries are scattered on a light gray surface around the glasses, creating a refreshing and elegant scene.

Champagne, or Sparkling Wine, is delicious but if you’re trying to avoid alcohol, or have kids who want to be a part of the celebration, non-alcoholic champagne is the way to go. It’s easy to make with just 2 ingredients, the flavor tastes so much like the original – and everyone can enjoy it. It’s the perfect champagne alternative without using zero proof or alcohol-free sparkling wine. Serve this at special occasions and do cheers or make a toast the guilt-free way. You can also use this recipe to make a Virgin Kir Royale or Virgin Mimosa!

A green bottle of ginger ale and a clear bottle of white grape juice stand side by side on a gray countertop, with a white tiled wall in the background.

Ingredients needed

  • White Grape Juice – this gives that grape flavor you expect from wine. You could also add some apple notes by using a bit of apple juice. White grapes are best because champagne is a pale yellow color (dark grape juice would not look right).
  • Ginger Ale – this gives the bubbles you expect plus a little extra tangy flavor. You want your non-alcoholic sparkling wine to have that same flavor and ginger ale is what helps with that.
A hand pours a light-colored liquid into a tall, empty glass on a gray surface. Fresh raspberries are scattered around the glass, adding a pop of red color to the scene.

How to make non-Alcoholic Champagne

  1. Add grape juice to a champagne flute.
  2. Top it off with ginger ale.

Variations

If you’re wanting vegan or gluten free non-alcoholic wine, this is perfect because both these ingredients are those things.

If you’re looking for low calories or low sugar, substitute diet ginger ale.

A can of ginger ale is being poured into a champagne flute. Another filled flute and several raspberries are in the background on a light gray surface.

Expert Tip

Obviously SHAMpagne won’t taste exactly like the real thing, but it’s a great substitute if you’re avoiding alcohol. Serve this as soon as it’s made. And you can use this recipe to add to others that include alcohol-free wine (like my Non-Alcoholic Sangria or Mocktail Mimosa).
