When it’s hot or you’re having a party you just want some easy punch recipes to serve and this Grapefruit Cooler should be one of them. Move over Paloma, Sangria, and party punch, the grapefruit cooler recipe is here to stay.

This drink is delicious and so easy to make with homemade mint simple syrup and then you add bubbles with club soda or sparkling water. It’s going to become a favorite recipe!

A bottle of Simply Grapefruit juice, a bottle of lemon juice, and a glass pitcher with a light liquid are on a countertop. Fresh mint leaves are next to the pitcher. The background features a white tiled wall.

Ingredient Notes

  • Mint Simple Syrup – you have options here. I think you should make the mint syrup from scratch – it’s really easy. But if you have plain simple syrup you could muddle some mint into it and then strain it.
  • Grapefruit Juice – this is sold in the refrigerator aisle usually, and sometimes they have shelf stable ones in the juice aisle. We also use grapefruit juice in our Salty Puppy Mocktail!
  • Bubbles – Club soda or sparkling water are best, or lemon-lime soda or ginger-ale if you prefer.

How to make Grapefruit Coolers

  1. You’ll make the base of the drink and chill it, then add the club soda when ready to serve. In that way it’s the best make ahead recipe.
  2. Homemade simple syrup is as easy as cooking equal parts sugar and water and infusing it with fresh herbs.
  3. Use fresh lemon juice for best results.
  4. Serve with club soda – only add this once poured or when serving so it doesn’t go flat.
  5. Garnish with lemon
Two glass mugs filled with pink lemonade garnished with lemon slices. A clear pitcher in the background holds more of the beverage. Fresh mint leaves and lemon slices rest on the gray surface.

Expert Tip

  • You can do this same thing with ANY juice – this would also be great with lemonade or limeade.
